Detailed information
The pipette washer provides a fast, uniform and gentle cleaning process for glass and plastic pipettes. It is ideal for laboratories that regularly reprocess large quantities of reusable pipettes. The matching pipette basket (accessory) allows numerous pipettes to be cleaned simultaneously. This eliminates the need for the time-consuming manual rinsing of individual pipettes.
During the cleaning process, water or a suitable cleaning solution flows into the container from below, washing over the pipettes inside and out. An integrated drain siphon automatically switches between filling and draining. This creates repeated rinsing cycles that reliably remove residues from the pipettes. The pipettes can then be rinsed with demineralised water.
The flexible polyethylene base reduces the risk of damage and protects the delicate pipette tips from breaking. A protective ring along the upper edge covers any sharp edges and also serves as a stable mounting base for the inlet hose. The lower drain connection requires a 13 mm inner diameter hose, which is not included. The transparent container makes it easy to monitor the cleaning process. With a capacity of 17 litres and a usable height of 600 mm, the pipette washer offers a practical solution for efficient laboratory workflows.
Typical application area of the product
The pipette washer is ideal for use in research, analytical, quality control and training laboratories, where reusable pipettes require regular cleaning. Pipettes are inserted vertically into a pipette basket, which is available separately, and then placed in the washing tank. Automatic filling and draining cycles then evenly remove residues from the interior and exterior surfaces. Heavily soiled pipettes can be soaked in a suitable cleaning solution prior to cleaning, and then rinsed thoroughly in the device.
How to use the product
- If necessary, soak the pipettes in a separate cleaning container (accessory) with a suitable cleaning agent for pre-cleaning.
- Place the pipette washer on a stable, level surface near a water supply and a suitable drain.
- Attach the inlet hose (not included) to the upper edge above the siphon, then connect it to a tap or deionized water source.
- Connect a drain hose (inner diameter: 13 mm) to the unit’s drain outlet. Route the hose either directly into a drain or into a sufficiently large, chemical-resistant collection container for the contaminated rinse water.
- Place the pipettes to be cleaned into the pipette basket (accessory).
- Carefully place the filled pipette basket into the rinsing chamber.
- Slowly turn on the water supply. Set the water flow rate to approximately two liters per minute.
- The water enters the rinsing chamber through the inlet at the top of the unit. The chamber fills up, rinsing the pipettes in the process.
- As soon as the rinsing chamber reaches the specified fill level, a suction effect is created at the drain elbow. Based on the siphon principle, the chamber is automatically emptied through the outlet.
- The rinse water flows out through the large-diameter drain at the lowest point of the device.
- As long as the water supply is open, the device automatically repeats the cycle of filling and complete emptying.
- To slow down the rinsing cycles, reduce the flow rate directly at the water source.
- If necessary, rinse the pipettes with deionized water to remove residues from tap water or cleaning agents.
- Then turn off the water supply completely. Wait until the rinse chamber and drain hose are completely empty.
- Then carefully remove the pipette basket from the device. Allow the pipettes to drain and dry according to operational guidelines.
